Well, it was a great time.. I went "home" for a week to see my sister and visit some other family, and it was refreshing..
Although it started off with me being a tad tired from an all day trip the day before my trip, it managed to be an amazing trip nonetheless.
The first night my sisters and I stayed in Albany, after a day on the coast and dinner with my mom we came back to Albany and spent the rest of the night in the hot tub and chilly pool..
The next day we went back to the coast, took the scenic route and went up to Mary's peak (a mountain outside of Corvallis-Go Beavs!) and a nice run down the Alsea highway, up into Waldport and then went and played on the beaches for a bit.. It was nice, and my sister decided her digital camera was dirty and needed a sea bath, so it went for a 2 second swim.. Before I could tell her not to turn it on, and that we could probably save it with drying it out and not shorting it out, it was turned on. I don't know the final result, but I think it's in the back yard next to fluffy.. RIP camera..
Now it's time for the BBQ at my moms house.. Got to see my Uncle Russel, which was a cool thing, and while dinner was finishing up, my mom decides it is time for the "if I die, these things are important and you need to know where to find them" speech.. So, the 5 o'clock dinner was done at 7:30, but I was able to break free of the "talk" by 8:30 to take a couple bites of cold ribs and warm mac salad.. Yeah she has a microwave, but who wants microwaved mac salad anyhow?
The next day, thanks to a friend, we had comp passes to the attractions on the bayfront in Newport, so we spent our morning and early afternoon playing terror.. errr tourist! We then decided to go out and find some mud to take the Hummer through (damn, I wish I didn't sell mine) and after almost getting lost in the middle of the mountains, because the roads are all changed since I grew up (not that I took a wrong turn!) we made it back to the hotel in time to make use of the pool and hot tub again..
Next day. I know this may be getting a tad boring by now, but you have the luxury of scrolling down, if I don't type it, I may forget it, and then what was the use of the trip after all? My sister Jazzy and I took a 4.5 mile hike down to see Drift Creek Falls outside of Lincoln city.. Although the trail is only 1.5, they added on an additional 1.5 section to it (that I mis read as the only trail to go to the suspension bridge) so we labored up some harder classed trails.. Luckily I wasn't wearing my Jordans, I would have cried, there was a LOT of mud, and even some snow still lingering around.. We made it down in about an hour, but back up in about 35 minutes or so.. It was a great hike, got some good pics I'm not sharing (maybe next blog!) and got to have a great time with my sister.
See, now I've already forgotten! The room in Depoe bay was right on the cliffs of the ocean and had a fireplace.. We slept with the patio door open so we could listen to the ocean, and the fire going, so we could stay warm! It was relaxing, however the pool and hot tub area they advertised on their website was only a 4 person hot tub in a big room. But that didn't get us down.. It was nice to see the sunrise and set on the ocean from the room.. I sat on the patio drinking soda, watching the sunset over the coast.. it was amazing.. Not to mention the weather was totally cooperating with 50-60 degree days..
We went to the tillamook cheese factory and took one of their self guided tours, and had some ice cream at the end of that. I bought some cheese curds, but was luckily the only one to like them, so I didn't have to share! :) YAY me!
Friday we went back into the valley and brought my 18 year old sister home to her place, after goin out and seeing my uncle Brian.. That was a cool trip, we went out and he had us go up into Beaver creek and from the top of the mountain you could see Sisters Mountains and a couple up near Portland.. What an amazing view.. My uncle said he brought me up there to get me homesick enough to move back..
Saturday my sis and I went over to meet my cousin Kayla and her fiancee' Rob.. We also were able to see my Dad's sister Candi(sp) which was nice.. We had Taco Time (which out here in MICHIGAN does NOT exist, a shame because their hot sauce beats out taco bells hands down) and hung out at Kayla's house.. I was apprehensive meeting a cousin whom I'd only talked to online and texting, but it turned out amazing.. All I have to say is.. "So......" :)
A trip back over the passes to the valley and Jaz and I had dinner and CRASHED! Sunday a BBQ was scheduled for 12 at my Uncles, and we made it there, but waited on my cuz and his wife to show up.. So 2 something... we ate! It was cool, another uncle of mine and an aunt came also, so it was REALLY like growing up.. I miss it already.. My uncles new wife was such a great houseguest she stayed in the room the entire time, except when she came out for food.. hmmm. I'll try and be nice.. I'll try and be nice.. I'll try.......
Another night in Albany and then it was time to take Jaz back home and head to the airport.. Made it to the airport early, the airlines (I won't mention Uniteds' name) had told me if I got there early then there was a possible earlier flight I could take, and make it home at a reasonable time.. I got to the airport at 8:45 in the morning. My flight was at 2 pm.. So.... (that's for you again Kayla) after 2 1/2 hours of delays because some mental midget clogged BOTH toilets with diapers, they cancelled my flight. Ugh. But they were cool enough to get me a hotel room and dinner and an EARLY flight home the next morning with several upgrades along the way.. So, I won't complain too much about it.. Although I was ready to be home and sleep in my new bed..
So, all in all, it was a fun trip, had some great times and made some great memories, as well as getting to meet a great cousin who lives in prineapple (prineville if you must).
I know I just seemed to run on and on about it, but ya know.. It's my blog.. :)
